Interventions
WHAT IS AN INTERVENTION?
- An intervention is an attempt by a person or group to help a loved one get professional help for an addiction or health crisis with the help of a specially trained counselor. (See FAQ page from more information)
DO I NEED AN INTERVENTION TO HELP A LOVED ONE?
- Family members usually know when a loved one has a problem. They want to help, try everything they can think of, but nothing t seems to work.
- If you have tried to help and nothing has worked, an intervention with a trained counselor can be exactly what you need to get what your loved one needs.
- An intervention can be used for any addiction or to help people face tough decisions, such as entering a nursing home or getting help for physical and mental illnesses. (See Detecting Addiction/Abuse page for more information)
WHO DOES GENTLE SPIRIT FAMILY INTERVENTIONS?
- Bob Atkins, the founder and interventionist for Gentle Spirit Family Interventions, has trained as an interventionist at the Illinois Institute of Addiction Recovery.
- He believes that including the entire family in an intervention can produce long-lasting results.
- As a recovering addict himself, he is able to understand and connect with people who are not ready to admit that they need help. (See About Us page for more information)
HOW MUCH AN INTERVENTION COST?
- Since interventions work 98% of the time, a small investment can lead to happy results and save thousands of dollars and years of pain and suffering.
- Gentle Spirit Family Interventions will continue to intervene and follow-up with the family as necessary.
- GSBH will guarantee the lowest intervention fees in America. This is because it is the Bob Atkins way of “giving back” to others what was so freely given to him almost 12 years ago. There is no price one can put on God’s grace.
- Before coming to your location, Bob will talk with your family by phone to get information about your loved one’s addiction.
- Bob will talk to the family and decide how to best to approach your loved one. He will explain how an intervention works in detail with as many phone calls as necessary.
- Bob will also help the family choose a site for the intervention, decide who should be there, and pick the kind of treatment best designed for your loved one. Since not everyone may need inpatient treatment, Bob discusses many treatment options focusing on addictions, such as 12-Step Programs, outpatient therapy, and family therapy.
- Bob will work within your budget to find treatment options. He has contacts for very low priced and, sometimes, free treatment, so don’t let cost keep you from calling.
- Bob will then meet with the family and their loved one in person to conduct the intervention. In his experience, the loved one almost always agrees to get treatment.
- Finally, if the first intervention does not work, Bob will work with the family until the loved one does agree to get treatment.
